q. do we need an officiant?
A. Nope! In Colorado you can self solemnize and don't need a third party or witness.
q. Can my dog sign the license?
A. Yes! In most counties, Colorado will let your dog put their ink print on the license. However, there are a few counties in Colorado that don't allow this. Be sure to ask ahead of time.
q. Is it easy to get the marriage license?
A. Absolutely! During the planning process together, I'll help you find the perfect location for your elopement. From there we'll find out what county you'll be getting married in and you'll call the court house of that county and make an appointment to pick up your license. You can drop it off anytime during business hours. It's easy peasy!
q. We've never been to colorado/don't know where to elope. Can you help us?
A. YESS yes yes yes!
It's not necessary to come prepared with any vision at all for your elopement! I am well experienced in the state of Colorado and know of so many locations to elope and still discovering so many more! Finding the perfect location for you is a really big part of the experience with me and I'll hold your hand through the whole process.
q. DO we need a permit to elope in colorado?
A. Not likely! There are very few places that require a permit! If we do need a permit, I can help walk you through that process. I do make it a requirement for each of my couples to do their own research on any location we go to and understand all the rules and regulations of that area.
There are many locations that do require a timed entry reservation so I'll make sure to communicate when we'll need a reservation to a location - but again, it is your responsibility to also make sure you are really familiar with the rules and regulations of any area we go to.
q. What happens if it rains on our day?
A. Here me out on this one...there's a really good chance it will rain!
Colorado is known for having it's pop up showers throughout the summer and it's not something to be nervous about. Most often a pop up storm will roll in for a couple of hours in the afternoon but almost never sticks around for the sunset. Choosing a sunrise elopement can also almost guarantee no rain.
This is something we can keep an eye out for and change plans when necessary! I have moved timelines around to avoid rain in the past and if you're flexible then we can change our plans last minute as long as we're capable. Changing timelines and plans on the day of can't be guaranteed and sometimes we have to just go for it in the rain! But those moments and photos always turn out absolutely incredible! If that's the case, let's embrace it!
