This is the number one question I get during almost every couple, what to wear for our engagement photos, we need help! These photos will show up on your save the dates, wedding invitations, and in your future homes. That’s why it’s so important to pick outfits that look amazing and that you feel good in. Let’s get into some of my favorite tips on styling outfits for your engagement photos below!
I am a very engaging and movement oriented photographer! The easiest way for me to be creative and evoke genuine emotion from you and your partner is through movement. Making sure you choose an outfit that allows you to move comfortably is something to keep in mind.
Most locations I shoot at are hard to wear heels or uncomfortable shoes. Whether we are walking in dirt or climbing rocks to get the epic shots. Think about wearing sandals or boots that are comfy and allow you to run around in.
Now i’m not saying you can’t wear a dress or something fancier for your engagement photos! But, I HIGHLY recommend that you bring and outfit that’s super casual. This way we can focus on more formal and intimate photos as well as really fun and playful photos with both outfits! I love formal photos, but if I’m being honest, my favorite photos are always the ones in the casual T-shirt’s and sneakers! I have so much fun capturing more genuine and real emotions when you feel the most comfortable to be yourself! Just look how amazing these super casual and playful photos turned out!
This is only my creative preference, but I love when your outfit colors blend in with the environment! I personally love earthy tones and natural colors that you’d see in the environment! Although Del’s green dress against the red rock was a solid combo color choice that I LOVED! I recommend finding photo inspiration you love in your shoot location and picking color ideas from there!
Accessorize! Wearing layers or accessories add a lot of creativity to the shoot! It can showcase your personality whether you vibe with a bright and flashy or more grungy and moody! Layers and accessories can also add more movement, life, and texture to the photos so sometimes it’s fun to add a vest, scarf, hat, sunglasses, to your outfit!
Ultimately I want you to feel like YOU and to be comfortable! Seriously come in sweats and a hoodie for your session if you’d like! I’d honestly love you for it. Dress for you and your personality!
